An exhibition of over thirty photos captured by this year's Edinburgh International Festival Photographer Sally Jubb is set to open this month at The Hub. Sally was appointed Festival Photographer 2012 following intense competition for the annual Edinburgh International Festival award supported by The Morton Charitable Trust.

Drawing on a summer packed with photographic opportunities, Festival 2012 – Framed is an exhibition of 33 photos by Sally which will take visitors to The Hub behind the scenes of the Festival and into rehearsal rooms, dressing rooms and backstage corridors catching artists and staff at work preparing for performances.

Images on display include dancers from the Mariinsky Ballet preparing in the wings, the London Symphony Orchestra warming up backstage, dancers from Deborah Colker Dance Company in Edinburgh's schools, Ballet Preljocaj in class at Dancebase, technical crews at the Lowland Hall at the Royal Highland Centre erecting the set for Les Naufragés du Fol Espoir (Aurores), audiences, NVA's Speed of Light and a wedding party at the Virgin Money Fireworks Concert.

Sally Jubb, Festival Photographer 2012 said 'My experience as the Festival Photographer for the Edinburgh International Festival 2012 gave me unparalleled access to the processes involved in choreographing and delivering a month long programme of arts and culture. I experienced first hand the physical and mental preparation that goes into every performance, my proximity allowing me the opportunity to capture energetic rehearsals as well as artist's fleeting moments of solitude before going on stage.

'Framed offers a rare glimpse behind the curtain of this internationally renowned festival and the companies that make it possible.'

Jonathan Mills, Festival Director said 'Sally was a terrific member of the Festival team this summer and through her charm won over artists, staff and audience members. We are delighted with the rich archive of images she gifts the Festival and are pleased to be able to offer, through this exhibition of 33 images, visitors to The Hub a glimpse behind the scenes of the Festival. We thank The Morton Charitable Trust for enabling us to offer this opportunity and we wish her enormous success in her future career.'

The Festival Photographer is an award made in partnership with The Morton Charitable Trust to an emerging young photographer looking to forge a career in this field.

Previous winners of this position include Edinburgh based photographers Claudine Quinn and Eoin Carey.
